The City of Portland is developing a new transportation plan - Portland in Motion. This will be the first transportation plan in the City in over 30 years. It’s an opportunity to look at how people and goods move in Portland today and how we can do better in the future.
One of the first major opportunities for the community to get involved is coming up.
The plan will provide a clear and actionable roadmap for improving the mobility of people and goods and consider walking, biking, transit, ferries, freight, and driving as interconnected parts of a single network. The plan will build off recent policy achievements, namely Portland’s Plan 2030, One Climate Future, ReCode, and the City’s work on Vision Zero and Complete Streets. It will place a strong emphasis on equity, improving outcomes for historically underserved communities. It will also align with the City’s climate resilience and emissions‑reduction goals. At the same time, the plan will recognize the importance of economic vitality, supporting efficient goods movement, port access, and business access.
